Social Determinants of Health are five broad domains that are used to understand the complexity of social factors. The following are those five domains:
1. Economic Stability
2. Education Access and Quality
3. Health Care Access and Quality
4. Neighborhood and Built Environment
5. Social and Community Context
Poverty is a key issue under the economic stability domain and I have researched both poverty and food insecurity.
FACT: 43 Million Americans lived in poverty
Banerjee, S., & Radak, T. (2019). Association between food insecurity, cardiorenal syndrome and all-cause mortality among low-income adults. Nutrition and Health, 25(4), 245-252.
This study unequivocally showed that there was 28% increased mortality among low-income population when they experienced hunger and/or food insecurity versus the general population.
Just having this one information can cause social change but this information alone cannot actually make the change. There has to be action or actionable policy.
One way to actualize these into actionable goals is to use the HP2030 framework. The HP2030 has specific guidelines.

So we see above that while the Target is 6%, according 2018 data, food insecurity is 11.1%.
